Trézor.io/Start® — Starting Up Your Device | Trezor®
Introduction to Trézor.io/Start®
Trézor.io/Start® is the official onboarding platform designed to help new users configure and secure their TreZor® hardware wallet. If you have just purchased a brand-new device, this is the first page you will be directed to when setting it up. The goal of Trézor.io/Start® is to ensure that your private keys remain offline and that your crypto assets are protected from hackers, phishing attacks, and malware.
Unlike software wallets that store private keys on internet-connected devices, TreZor® hardware wallets keep your keys isolated in a secure chip. This air-gapped-like environment drastically reduces the chances of theft.
What Comes Inside the TreZor® Box?
Before visiting Trézor.io/Start®, you should verify the contents of your package:
- TreZor® hardware wallet device
- USB cable (official)
- Recovery seed cards
- Instruction manual
- Holographic seal (tamper-evident)
🚨 Important: If the box seal is broken or looks tampered with, do NOT proceed. Contact the seller immediately.
Step-by-Step Guide to Using Trézor.io/Start®
Step 1 – Connect Your Device
Plug your TreZor® device into your computer using the provided USB cable. Once connected, your browser will guide you to Trézor.io/Start®. Always type the address manually to avoid fake clone websites.
Step 2 – Install the Official Bridge or Desktop App
To allow your computer to communicate with your wallet, you will need to install the TreZor® Bridge or the desktop application. This acts as a secure communication layer between your browser and the hardware wallet.
After installation, reconnect your device so that it can be detected.
Step 3 – Firmware Installation
If your wallet is new, it will not have firmware installed. Trézor.io/Start® will prompt you to install the latest verified firmware directly from the official source.
✔️ Never download firmware from unofficial websites
✔️ Confirm the fingerprint on your device screen
Step 4 – Create a New Wallet
Once firmware is installed, choose Create New Wallet. Your TreZor® will now generate your recovery seed — the most important part of your crypto ownership.
Understanding the Recovery Seed (12–24 Words)
The recovery seed is a list of randomly generated words that act as your master backup key. If your wallet is lost, stolen, or damaged, this seed is the ONLY way to recover your funds.
Rules you must follow:
- Write the words on paper, not digitally ✍️
- Never take screenshots
- Never share it with anyone
- Store it in a fireproof & waterproof location
⚠️ If someone has your recovery phrase, they own your crypto — period.
Setting Your PIN Code
After saving your seed, Trézor.io/Start® will guide you to create a PIN.
- The PIN protects your wallet from physical access
- After several failed attempts, the device wipes itself
- The layout changes every time to prevent spyware attacks
This randomized keypad is one of TreZor®’s strongest features.
Exploring Your Wallet Dashboard
After setup, you can access your dashboard to:
- Send & receive cryptocurrencies
- View portfolio balances
- Add new coins & tokens
- Verify addresses directly on your device screen
Always confirm addresses on the physical TreZor® screen — not on your computer.
Supported Cryptocurrencies
TreZor® supports thousands of assets including:
- Bitcoin (BTC)
- Ethereum (ETH)
- Litecoin (LTC)
- Cardano (ADA)
- ERC-20 Tokens
- Many more altcoins & tokens
This wide support makes Trézor.io/Start® a powerful hub for multi-asset management.
Security Tips You Should Never Ignore
✔️ Bookmark the official site
✔️ Never click on ads claiming “firmware updates”
✔️ Avoid public Wi-Fi when managing assets
✔️ Keep firmware updated
✔️ Enable passphrase feature for extra protection
What is the Passphrase Feature?
The passphrase acts as a “25th word” to your recovery seed. Without it, your wallet cannot be accessed — even if someone has your seed.
This is an advanced feature but highly recommended for long-term holders.
Troubleshooting Common Issues
Device not detected?
Reinstall Bridge & try another USB port.
Firmware install stuck?
Disconnect → reconnect while holding both buttons.
Lost recovery seed?
There is no way to retrieve it — always store it safely.
